How to Be Productive and Methodical at Work

Working is hard. We all know that. However, if you have a responsible role it’s even harder, because you have to ensure that you’re always accurate and productive in your work.

Clearly, this should apply to all workers and not only those in a position of power. But there are certain times when, as a result of tiredness, stress or personal problems, we find it difficult to be at our best. So here are some tips on how to be methodical and productive in the office.

How to Be Productive and Methodical At the Office

  • Get organised: first thing every morning, make a plan of all the things that need doing. List all the tasks for the day, calculating the amount of work involved and the time you need to do it. Then, if you’ve committed yourself to finishing a job by 10 a.m., you’ll be more motivated to meet that deadline. If you impose these restrictions, and don’t get distracted or have too many coffee breaks, you’ll have more free time at the end of the day!
  • Prioritise: they’ll certainly be some jobs that are more crucial than others. So it’s best to start with the important ones, because your mind is sharper in the morning and you’ll produce better work. Also, if it’s vital to finish them by a certain deadline, it makes sense not to get caught in a last minute rush.
  • Limit your break times: especially in the summer months, or if you’re stressed, you often feel like taking lots of breaks during the day. No-one will tell you not to, but you need to make sure you’re not wasting too much time, so impose a limit on your coffee or cigarette breaks, and stick to it! Again, it’s up to you to take the initiative.
