Careers With No High School Diploma: 5 Options

How can you find a job with no high school diploma? You might think that without this qualification, you’ll have real problems getting a job. But that’s not the case.

There are tons of jobs and professions that don’t require a diploma. So what are the jobs that don’t make this demand? Here they are, and here’s how to choose the one that suits you.

Finding a Job With No Diploma: the Best Options

  • Barman or waiter: in the catering industry, experience and a willingness to work at any time count for far more than a diploma. Whether you choose to do short-term or part-time work, you’re very unlikely to be asked about your academic qualifications during the interview. The interviewer will be more interested in how motivated you are and how keen you are to work.
  • Cleaner: if you’re expert at tidying and cleaning, a cleaning job might be a good choice. You don’t need a high school diploma or degree, just willingness to work, skill and patience.
  • Carer: if you enjoy taking care of others, this job requires patience, professionalism and sympathy for the elderly or those with problems.
  • Shop assistant: you don’t need any special qualifications to get a job as a shop assistant. This is another job that doesn’t require a diploma; it’s more important to have enthusiasm and a will to learn, as well as a friendly attitude with customers.
  • Pizza chef or baker: neither of these professions requires a diploma. You need to be interested in cooking, skilful and good with your hands, and also willing to work at any time of day or night. You can’t learn how to make bread or pizzas overnight, so you’ll initially need to shadow an expert who can teach you the requisite skills.
