How to Know If a Job Is Perfect for You Before Sending Your Resume

You've seen a very tempting job ad, but you're not sure whether it's really what you want: here are some tips to help you decide.

You see a job search for your dream job, and you want to apply for it. But then you start having doubts. Will it really be the perfect job for you? Or will the duties involved be different from what you have imagined?

Here’s how to discover what it’s really all about. This is some advice you should follow before answering a job ad.

What to Find Out Before Sending a CV

First of all, take a look at the company’s website. Doing this, you can read the job description and checkwhether it’s really in a sector you like. Take a look at what the company does, and look very carefully at the particular section that would involve your job.

So for example, if you want to work as a press officer and write press releases, check through the existing notices in that section to see if they meet your expectations.

Second, take a look at LinkedIn and if you find an acquaintance who has worked for that company, contact him and ask for some information. How does the company work? How does the management behave and what are the main areas of interest? That way, you’ll get an insider’s view from someone who’s already worked there.

Another thing you can do before sending your resume is to make a phone call. Ask for some general information about the job search. But don’t ask pointless questions; read the job description carefully, and if something isn’t clear, ask for an explanation.

In this way, you can find out all about the job and will be able to decide whether you’re really interested in that type of work or not.
