Interview On Skype: Frequently Asked Questions and How to Reply

Having an interview on Skype is equivalent to a face-to-face meeting: here are a few examples of questions and answers.

Talking on Skype is one of the most common ways of conducting a conversation about work. It allows two people who may be very far apart to have a proper “face to face” conversation.

As we’ve already indicated, an interview on Skype is just as important as an in-person interview. That is why you have to be well prepared. Dress carefully, don’t adopt strange postures and be ready to answer all the questions.

Here are some of the most common questions that you might be asked during a Skype interview.

Skype Interview: questions and answers

  • What do you expect from this job?: This is one of those trick questions your interviewer might put to you. This question is asked to test your initiative and your knowledge. It is good to reply that you want to accomplish the work together, as well as the successes, and so with this job you would like to be able to grow alongside the company.
  • Do you want to ask me something?: Be careful. This is a sneaky question, because you may well want to ask something in relation to your salary or holidays. That would be a big mistake: it would indicate that you are more interested in earning than in working. Better to ask what action plan the company uses to counter competitors.
  • If you had to describe yourself with an adjective, which one would you use?: A question that can pose you some problems, but which is very popular with interviewers. There’s no right answer, but using an adjective such as determined is a good compromise, because it shows you have a strong character and is not generally negative. Always choose adjectives that can be used positively.
  • What can you give to our company?: The employer wants to know what your strengths are. This is your chance to show him, so respond by explaining all the good things you could bring to the company team.
