How companies use technology to find the best candidates

Recruiting is time-consuming process but now technology helps recruiters to make it cheaper and faster.

The struggle to attract and retain the best talent is nothing new for companies. Recruiting is time-consuming process with some recruiters having to sift through hundreds of resumes before narrowing down the list of viable candidates. However, recruiters now have more tools, information and technology at their fingertips to make the match process a little bit smoother.

In the era of Big Data, digital technology offers tools that can analyze huge masses of data, discard unnecessary information and select only those useful to identify the right candidate.

AI helps save time and money

The application of artificial intelligence algorithms, machine learning technologies, predictive analysis, semantic analysis, together with other techniques and devices can greatly simplify selection work, reducing time and costs. Not only does it help make the process cheaper and faster, but technology also gets rid of human problems like bias and discrimination.

Several big-name companies, like Ikea and PepsiCo, have outsourced part of their recruiting efforts RobotVera – AI recruiting software designed by a Russian start-up Staforycreators. RobotVera creators Vladimir Sveshnikov and Alexander Uraksin, co- say that RobotVera can cut the time and cost of recruiting by a third – making it worth the investment.

Grunt work is for AI; decision-making is for humans

But this does not mean that the role of human beings is already or will soon become useless. In fact, humans will still be the ones left to make critical decisions throughout the hiring process. After all, a robot lacks the sensitivity, empathy and emotional intelligence to decide if that candidate is the best cultural fit for a company. Recruiting is a people business and people will remain at the core.
