Three Healthcare jobs in demand – now and in the future

If you happen to be in health care, you’re in luck. Here are three health care jobs that are in demand now and will likely stay that way.

It’s estimated that by 2030, as many as 30 percent of jobs could be automated. As we’re entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution – characterized by breakthroughs in disruptive technology like robotics, artificial intelligence and more – many of us are left wondering how to future-proof our careers.

If you happen to be in health care, you’re in luck. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs report predicts that health care employment outlook will be stable, and workers will experience a positive impact on compensation, job security and work-life balance.

While technology like robotics and big data will certainly continue to impact the industry, skills required for health care workers like emotional intelligence and critical decision-making show no signs of being threatened by automation any time soon.

Here are three health care jobs that are in demand now and will likely stay that way:

Nursing Associates

This job title provides work-based route into nursing for those unable to study full-time at university. The NHS estimates that there will be around 45,000 nursing associate jobs by 2027.  Here’s how to answer five tricky questions asked during a nursing interview.

Care Home Nursing

With an aging population, home care nursing is more in demand than ever. The Independent reports that around 190,000 elderly people will require care by 2035.

Mental Health Counsellor

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, have committed to advocate for mental health awareness, launching Heads Together in 2016, a campaign to tackle stigma and change the conversation on mental health with fundraising for a series of innovative new mental health services.  UK has steadily been experiencing an uptick usage of mental health services in both the public and private sector and mental health services carry a .3 percent risk of automation according to the Future of Jobs report.
