Résumé for a Waiter And Bartender

Waiter or bartender? Here's how to write a model CV, and what you should include to help you get the job.

Working as a waiter or bartender is an ideal job for anyone at school or university. There are also many people who really enjoy this type of work.

But where should you start? With a well-written CV! How can you write a model CV for these jobs? Should you always be totally truthful or can you be less than honest about certain things?
Let’s examine some of the important points you should consider.

Waiter and Bartender CV: What to Write

First of all, it’s a given that anyone seeking work as a waiter or bartender needs to have some previous experience. So if you want to apply for a job as a bartender you should always tell the truth about your skills and your previous jobs.

If you’re taken on as a barman and you don’t even know how to make a long drink, you certainly won’t last long. You should also be totally honest when writing a CV for a job as a waiter. Include all the information which might be of use to your future employer. If you can, also add some references.

Whether you’re applying for a job as a waiter or a bartender, it’s important to bear certain things in mind when composing your CV:

  1. List your previous jobs, including the name of the premises and of the owner, so that your prospective employer can contact them if he wishes.
  2. Specify what you’re particularly good at (e.g. preparing cocktails or long drinks for the evening) to demonstrate that you have real experience and are honest about your strengths.
  3. Indicate the maximum hours you can work and when: in bars and restaurants it’s important to have staff who are willing to start early or finish late.
